Types of LSA Memberships

Full LSA memberships include Full Memberships, Introductory Memberships (the first year of membership for a new skater joining as a Full Member) and Collegiate Memberships.

Specialty Memberships are Limited Memberships with various dues rates.

Learn to Skate Membership

The Learn To Skate Membership is an LSA Specialty Membership required for a skater to enroll in Learn To Skate sessions.

Full Memberships

Full Memberships are treated as a family unit, so one skater is a full member, and each additional family member (including parents) are added on at a lower fee, although all will have Full Member benefits.

Full Memberships Include:

  • The right to purchase and use ice time from LSA reserved ice (contract ice)
  • The right to hire LSA-approved coaches for private lessons on LSA ice time
  • The ability to join group classes on and off ice that are part of LSA's programming
  • The ability to pay for lessons with visiting specialty coaches on LSA ice time
  • The ability to participate in LSA sponsored events and shows, like the annual Nutcracker On Ice performance
  • Lower fees at LSA test sessions than out-of-club skaters
  • The right to claim LSA as a skater's home club in order to participate and compete in U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned competitions and tests
  • Automatic registration with U.S. Figure Skating and the benefits that come with that, including competing and testing at its events, a subscription to Skating magazine, basic insurance coverage, and certificates of accomplishment for test levels passed
  • The right to vote in LSA elections (members 16+ years old) and serve on the Board of Directors (members 18+ years old), if elected

Full Members

  • First Family Member/Single Member Dues for 2024-2025 membership year: $250
  • Each additional family member dues for 2024-2025 membership year: $55
  • If Full Member (first family member) is under 18, at least one additional family member must join as a Parent Member, at the additional family member dues of $55. The registration system will detect the age of the first family member and prompt for the addition of a parent member if needed.

Introductory Members

If a skater has never joined a home club and been issued a US Figure Skating ID number before, that skater is eligible for an Introductory Membership at a reduced dues rate for the first year of membership with LSA.

  • First Family Introductory Member/Introductory Single Member Dues for 2024-2025 membership year: $130
  • Each additional family member dues for 2024-2025 Introductory membership year: $55
  • If Introductory Member (first family member) is under 18, at least one additional family member must join as a Parent Member, at the additional family member dues of $55. The registration system will detect the age of the first family member and prompt for the addition of a parent member if needed.

Collegiate Members

The Collegiate membership is designed to maintain a skater's connection to LSA after they enter college by providing a steeply discounted membership rate that carries all the benefits of full membership. Collegiate members will be registered as full members for 4 consecutive years, without having to pay a new registration fee each year (a savings of $750).

  • Collegiate Member Dues for 4 years beginning in the 2024-2025 membership year: $180
  • Dues include U.S. Figure Skating Membership fee for each year and LSA Club dues
  • Does not include USFS gold test medal achieved as a collegiate member.
  • Collegiate members must be enrolled as full-time students at an accredited two-year or four-year institution at the time they register for this membership.
  • They must have been a Full member of LSA for the preceding year prior to registering for Collegiate membership. (Skaters who do not meet this requirement may petition the Board of Directors for a waiver.)

Specialty Memberships

LSA offers several types of limited memberships that allow access to fewer membership benefits at a different dues rate.

Learn to Skate

LSA's Learn To Skate Membership is a nominal membership that allows skaters to get a U.S. Figure Skating ID, so they can enroll in LSA's Learn To Skate Program and get credit for Basic Skills tests, without registering as a Full Member with LSA.

  • Learn To Skate Membership fee for LSA 2024-2025 membership year: $21
  • Includes U.S. Figure Skating Learn To Skate Membership fee and LSA registration fee
  • Allows participation in U.S. Figure Skating Learn To Skate group lessons
  • Basic insurance coverage through U.S. Figure Skating
  • Allows participation in Basic Skills competitions and Basic Skills events
  • Provides U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills record book and yearly badge
  • Learn To Skate Members may not take other U.S. Figure Skating tests; however, they may take Basic Skills tests.

Aspire

LSA's Learn to Skate USA members are eligible to upgrade to the Aspire Membership. The Aspire membership allows skaters to enroll in LSA's Aspire Program in an environment with supportive group training as they move towards contracting and introductory full membership.

  • Aspire Membership fee for LSA 2024-2025 membership year: $60
  • Includes U.S. Figure Skating Aspire Membership fee and LSA registration fee
  • Allows participation in the U.S. Figure Skating Learn to Skate sessions, Aspire group classes, Aspire contract ice sessions and camps, and Aspire group exhibitions in Fire & Ice and Nutcracker on Ice.
  • Allows participation in competitions in the following levels:
    • Preliminary and lower
    • Adult Bronze and lower
  • Aspire members are eligible for the following entry level U.S. Figure Skating tests:
    • Pre-Preliminary Skating Skills and Singles
    • Adult Pre-Bronze Skating Skills and Singles
    • 12 Preliminary Ice Dances
  • Secondary sports accident insurance
  • SKATING magazine

Adult Limited

LSA's Adult Limited membership is intended for individual adults ages 20 and above. It provides the same benefits from USFS (adult competitions) and from LSA as a Full Member, except that Adult Limited Members can only contract for ice time from LSA specified as adult only sessions.

  • Adult Limited Member dues for LSA 2024-2025 membership year: $120
  • Skaters must be 20 years of age or older
  • Additional family members may not be added to this membership
  • May only contract for Adult Only session (members do have walk on privileges to sessions for which they qualify)
  • Right to represent Home Club (LSA) at Adult sectional and national events
  • Will not be awarded USFS test badges and/or medals by LSA. (These may be purchased by the member if desired)
  • Allows for the opportunity to train to become a USFS official, judge, announcer, music tech

Associate Limited

Associate membership is a limited membership intended for skaters who are members of U.S. Figure Skating through another Home Club or who are individual members of U.S. Figure Skating but want to participate in LSA programs.

  • Associate Member dues for LSA Club membership only for 2024-2025 year: $220
  • Ability to contract for ice (per-session costs are not included in membership)
  • LSA email communications pertinent to Associate members
  • Allows participation in LSA-sponsored events and shows
  • Invitations to LSA Club-sponsored training clinics
  • Allows purchase of LSA logo apparel

Coaches

  • Coach Member dues for LSA Club membership for 2024-2025 year: $95

Coaches should contact the LSA Skating Director about coach membership dues and eligibility.

Officials

LSA's Official Membership provides Full LSA membership for appointed U.S. Figure Skating Officials including Judges, Accountants, Music Coordinators, Referees, and Ice Technicians, at no cost to the official.

  • U.S. Figure Skating dues paid by LSA, and LSA Club dues waived
  • Access to Full Membership benefits

Official's membership criteria requires the official must:

  • Remain active and in good standing with U.S. Figure Skating in their appointed capacity
  • Establish LSA as their Home Club
  • Be willing to attend U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council as an LSA Delegate
  • Be willing to cover own personal travel expenses when providing services to LSA
  • Make services available to LSA as needed, within reason, according to LSA's Executive Board
